picturesofwar:

One day, while on his ranch in the Dakotas, Theodore Roosevelt’s riverboat was stole by a gang of outlaws, apparently unaware of who they were messing with.
After his ranch hands informed him of what occurred, they realized the only way to catch them was to build a boat of their own and track them down on the river.
So they did.
It took three days for them to build the makeshift boat.  Despite having a head start, it wasn’t long before Roosevelt and his posse tracked down the bandits (in another three days.)
Roosevelt himself ambushed the bandits.  Rather than kill them, Roosevelt decided to take them back alive to stand trial for their crimes.
During their journey back to town, Roosevelt read Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina aloud.  Once he finished the novel, a wagon was hired to house the bandits, and Roosevelt walked behind it for 45 miles to guard them with his gun.
