spotted today: Teddy Roosevelt on the way to the New York Historical Society in Manhattan.
This statue is in front of one of the entrances to the Museum of Natural History! There were also lots of Teddy-related things at the NY Historical Society. Go check them both out if you’re ever in NYC, they’re right next to each other!
In March 1909, Roosevelt set sail for British East Africa on an expedition jointly sponsored by the Smithsonian. He collected over a year collecting mammals, birds, reptiles and plants for the National Museum of Natural History.
As for the NY Historical Society, TR was elected as youngest member to the New York State Assembly, served as NYC Police Commissioner in 1895 for two years and elected New York governor in 1899.
